Saetta

Formula SAE Shock

Our solid experience and technical know-how in motorsport led us to enter the Formula SAE world. We applied the knowledge gained from developing high-performance mountain bike shock absorbers to create SAETTA, a highly customizable shock absorber engineered to meet the demanding requirements of advanced racing setups. Saetta is proudly 100% Made in Italy and, like every products, it reflects the excellence of Italian craftsmanship and the pursuit of innovation.

TECHNOLOGY and features

PREMIUM SURFACE TREATMENT

The damper body undergoes a black hard anodizing 30 μm treatment, which ensures high reliability, long service life, and excellent sliding performance. As a result, service intervalsare significantly extended.

ext superlight v2 springs

The new Superlight V2 Springs are developed using exotic materials primarily employed in motorsport applications.
This material features exceptionally high tensile strength and modulus, which — combined with a highly refined design and specific production processes — enables the new generation of Superlight Springs to weigh up to 30% less than the previous Superlight model and other conventional steel springs (the weight reduction percentage depends on the spring’s stiffness and travel values).

  • New, improved proprietary super-light material design

  • Extremely linear spring rate

  • Hard epoxy coating

  • Internal diameter: Ø38.5 mm

  • Up to 30% lighter than standard steel springs and the previous EXT Superlight version

  • Developed through our automotive racing programs

  • Optimized for fine-tuning with 25 lbs increments

  • Compatible with all damper types on the market

  • Long service life: over 500,000 cycles

  • Higher vanadium content for increased dynamic stress resistance

valves

New Ø24 shim type compression valve spec for a better response, hysteresis reduction and improved adjustment sensitivity to click changes. On Saetta valve adjustment are placed on the side for an easy access, also on tight clearance frames.

Each individual valve is tested to ensure the correct damping behavior of the shock, using both manual and electronic control methods.

custom tune

We offer a dedicated service to help define custom specifications for shock absorbers, aiming to fine-tune performance to better meet your specific requirements. By analyzing Force-Velocity graphs and related data across various settings (full open, full close, and intermediate clicks), we assess the damper’s behavior in detail. This allows us to identify the ideal setup or recommend targeted adjustments to optimize the system’s dynamic response.

damper specs

  • Eye-to-eye lenght: 190×52.5 (minimum lenght) – 200×57.5 mm – 210×62.5 mm
  • Stroke: 52.5 mm (maximum stroke with 190 mm lenght) – 57.5 mm – 62.5 mm
  • Weight: 490g (w/o spring)

Custom stroke and center-to-center distance modifications can be requested.

Specifications

  • Reservoir with bladder to ensure compact dimensions, reduced maintenance and improved performance
  • No cavitation and low hysteresis
  • New Ø24 shim type compression valve spec for a better response, hysteresis reduction and improved adjustment sensitivity to click changes
  • Very low reservoir pressure to maximize sensitivity and reliability
  • High flow 3-way damper: 2 ways low and high speed compression and single-adjustable rebound
  • Spherical bearings: 10 mm inner diameter ( with option to request custom-made reducers to adapt it to your
    specific requirements)
  • The rebound circuit is designed to completely separate the compression and rebound phases. This ensures
more precise and effective results during setup.
  • Ø14 mm steel shaft with hard chrome moly treatment for maximum mechanical strength with low friction
    surface treatment.
